Megaflex-cijevni sustavi d.o.o. (herein after referred as Megaflex) is part of the Cluster Metalaca Sjevernog Jadrana Metalaca and specifically is the leader of the Consortium within the Cluster dealing with the building of piping systems. The decision to build up a consortium in this field was made after 20 years of work experience Megaflex has in piping systems. The company deals with the drawing of pipelines and makes the documentation for workshops as well as the technical preparation. Workshops are mainly dealing with issues such as the manufacturing and the building of pipelines on the ship. Megaflex provides testing services and the final documentation to the shipyard. The consortium of piping systems building has besides Megaflex as leader 10 more companies as members which all together have 780 employees. During 2006 the Consortium, which itself functions as a Cluster, made contracts of more than 1 million euros for pipe systems building in shipbuilding, industry and construction.

Megaflex main tasks in STARNETregio are the collection of information on the relevant industrial community, its needs and activities as well as the provision of a regional technology demand portfolio for the Liaison Office to be established in the regions. Furthermore, the company will be actively involved in the selection of industrial organisations and associations to be involved in the International shipbuilding dissemination forum and in the elaboration of the Shared Trans-national Research Agenda as well as the joint Action Plan. As part of the Cluster Metalaca, the work to be accomplished by Megaflex will be facilitated significantly. Access to the key companies in the region, of which most are SMEs, as well as their strong commitment to the project activities will be guaranteed and a comprehensive information gathering ensured.
