Regionalna razvojna agencija Porin d.o.o., the Regional Development Agency Porin (herein after referred as Porin) is a Limited Liability Company with non-profit clause, owned by the public bodies, the Primorsko goranska county and the City of Rijeka. The mission of Porin is the facilitation of regional development, aimed to generate as many start-ups as possible, develop existing entrepreneurs and create new jobs while encouraging investments in the region. In this regard, the institution supports the initiation and execution of projects which facilitate the regional economic development. To the Agency’s main tasks belong the design of strategic documents of economic development (ROP, Action plans, etc.), the management of regional development projects, the creation and implementation of projects which include systematic entrepreneurship and their synergetic functioning and the boosting of the competitiveness of economic subjects in the region through activities such as the creation of regional collateral funds as means of financial support for entrepreneurs seeking loan and the economic exchange and search for business partners. Furthermore, Porin established the entrepreneurial centres Torpedo and Rujevica in which are embedded the EU info centre and the Entrepreneurial incubators for service and manufacturing companies. Additionally, the Agency is heavily involved in entrepreneurial networking, providing support to existing clusters in the regions and supporting them in their internationalisation process and cooperation activities. Regarding international relationships, Porin has set up cross-border and international cooperation through the project SLOHRRA, aimed at the development of an organisation structure for cross-border acting and the development of human resources, and the project ZONET, seeking for the development of small business zones.

Porin will be strongly involved in the structuring of the STARNETregio Network, will take care of the implementation of the Liaison Office in the region and will accomplish the information gathering related to RTD and innovation policies in the country and the availability of financial resources for the shipbuilding industry. Furthermore, Porin will be the leader of WP5, thus coordinating and supervising the activities leading to the elaboration of a Shared trans-national Research Agenda. The Agency will also actively participate in the joint Action Plan development. Porin till today participated in several European projects and programmes dealing with research and the development of the maritime sector and set up inter-institutional and further co-operation with both domestic and foreign partners.
